Something's missing....

Ahhh! Yes, that would be the complete manuscript.

Life has been, well, busy, to put it mildly. And so it takes more of an effort to write. But, I know this is not an excuse for NOT writing. Whenever I feel this way, I think of Nicholas Sparks (I highly suggest this link to his page for writers). He was working full time as a pharmaceutical rep, had a family, and he found time to write The Notebook. So, there. I have no excuses.

But, do you ever feel like you've learned as much as you can about the querying process, you're reading all the agent blogs, educating yourself about plot, pacing, and character, and then....well there's the execution. You know, the actual writing of your book. Yeah, I'm kind of missing that part.

It seems all you bloggers out there are really pounding out the words, and I'm writing about not writing, and holding a contest for a new header design for my blog.

  1. I'm working on three different scenes that come at three different parts of CaN, in addition to recasting five of the last ten chapters and revising other stuff throughout the main text.

Yeah, the only reason I'm writing a lot is because I have a lot of writing to do and the complete MS is pretty much all done.

    So yeah. Craziness.

  2. If it makes you feel any better, I'm writing approximately 100 words per day these past several weeks.

  3. I've been deleting 300 and adding 50.

I was lucky to start this whole process before blogging came about and then was lucky again not to start blogging until I had a number of manuscripts done.

Don't let what others are doing discourage you. Do your thing, even if it's slow-going sometimes.

  4. Thanks for the encouragement guys =)

  5. I'm not on any fast-track either. Slow and steady, my friend :)

  6. Writing has been slow for me too - sometimes it's just hard to make myself sit down and do it.

  7. I think its the cold temps. It makes everything so much slooooower.

  8. I definitely go through periods like that. Thanks for the Nicholas Sparks link.

  9. the only reason I'm writing a lot is because I have a lot of writing to do and the complete MS is pretty much all done.
